I had a different brand vacuum robot, for a few days. That one had only SLAM mapping, grossly inadequate. This +360 S5 has LIDAR mapping and is much, much better. The first one had stronger suction (pickup up more), but this one is adequate. Over all, I like the S5 a lot. It does accurate mapping, and an adequate job of cleaning. FYI, other +360 models have more suction. And mops. I'm not interested in mops, over 90% of my apartment is carpet, and it sweeps the tile, anyway. There are a couple minor things, which I suspect are behaviors inherent to the machine. And I do mean minor. It, always requires several tries to dock, but always succeeds. One day bright sun was shining in the window, and included a linear shadow down the middle of the bright area on the floor. The shadow fooled the edge/drop-off sensors, and it would not clean past/through the shadow.Keep in mind that you must prepare your place for robotic vacuuming. Be sure it can't "get to" any wires. I put the chairs on the table, so it can sweep under. And I pick up everything I can -- it will skip areas where it "sees" or bumps into things. It does a good job of getting under the bed, futon, and several wire-shelf units - an improvement over hand vacuuming. It figures out the legs, for the furniture it can get under, and sweeps everything else. Nice. The dust bin is small, but that is common with robots. I empty it every use, as part of the preparation for each use. I also want to see how much it picked up, and it if "got" anything "unexpected". Also be aware that all robot vacuums require brush and filter replacements - think $15 +/- per year.In spite of my general enthusiasm for the design and features of the S5, I returned it. It did very well, at first. But, apparently something broke. It started with occasional "server connection" errors - I think it "had a stroke". And it started wanting me to clean the anti-drop sensors, a lot. It became erratic in mapping and cleaning patterns. It skipped areas (as much as 12% of my apartment), and went over other areas repeatedly. It occasionally "detected" something that is not there, and went around it, like an (invisible) furniture leg. I Tried, for a long time, to figure out if I could make it work reliably. I experimented with every setting and option. It did better (but still not right) if all maps were erased, "Rebuild Map" was selected, and the unit reset (press the reset button) prior to every use. Not keeping any maps defeats some of the features related to saving, and editing maps. This was not important to me, since I have a single story apartment. It often won't properly figure out the bathroom. It goes in and out of the bath repeated, goes back and forth and spins itself (sensing?) repeatedly, and ends up missing small spots anyway. The bathroom has a THICK bath mat, which apparently bothers the movement, and thereby possibly affects the sensing. The bath is also small, and (just guessing) the porcelain/enameled fixtures might fool the sensors (reflect the signal around, thus producing "confusing" readings). All these "glitches" make it easy to guess that one or more sensors experience "lapses", producing erratic behavior in the mapping, and cleaning patterns.I am presuming that the problems I had were with my specific unit, and not common to "the breed". I intend to acquire their new, top-of-the-line, S10, which is expected to be released in a couple months. In the meanwhile, I'll just need to vacuum - the old fashioned way.
